Choose the correct option in place of question mark (?) in the following series:


5, 7, 12, 6, 8, 14, 7, (?), 16, 8, 10, 18.

(a) 8

(b) 9

(c) 10

(d) 12

Solution:

In the series when we add the first two numbers we get the third number.

5 + 7 = 12

6 + 8 = 14

7 + (?) = 16; now 16 – 7 = 9, therefore 7 + 9 = 16.

8 + 10 = 18

Answer: 9
