Multiplication Table of 20

Repeated addition by 20’s means the multiplication table of 20.

(i) When 5 candle-stands having 20 candles each.

By repeated addition we can show 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 100

Then, twenty 5 times or 5 twenty’s

5 × 20 = 100

Therefore, there are 100 candles.

(ii) When 8 bundles of 20 pencils each.

By repeated addition we can show 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 + 20= 160

Then, twenty 8 times or 8 twenty’s

8 × 20 = 160

Therefore, there are 160 pencils.

We will learn how to use the number line for counting the multiplication table of 20.

20 Times Table on Number Line

(i) Start at 0. Hop 20, three times. Stop at 60.

3 twenty’s are 60         3 × 20 = 60

(ii) Start at 0. Hop 20, ten times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 200

10 twenty’s are 200        10 × 20 = 200

(iii) Start at 0. Hop 20, twelve times.

Stop at ____. Thus, it will be 240

12 twenty’s are 240         12 × 20 = 240
