Worksheet on Concept of Ratio

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on concept of ratio. We know, the quantities of a ratio must be in the same kind and is usually expressed in its lowest term in simplest form.

1. Find the ratio of the following in the simplest form:

(i) 15 cents to 5 dollars

(ii) 50 g to 1.5 kg

(iii) 25 cents to $75

(iv) 40 cm to 2.5 m

(v) 45 seconds to 2 minutes

(vi) 75 cents to $10

(vii) 15 minutes to an hour

(viii) 2 cm to 1 metre

(ix) 250 gm to 1 kilogram

(x) 15 cents to 1 dollar

(xi) 3.5 metres to 15 metres

(xii) 10 metres to 25 cm

2. Fill in the blanks:

(ii) 14 : 16 = ____ : 8

(iii) ____ : 2 = 5 : 10


(iv) 6 : 4 = ____ : 16

(v) 4 : 6 = 2 : ____

3. In a packet containing 80 watches, 15 watches were found to be defective. Find the ratio of defective to good watches.

4. A rectangular field is 100 m by 80 m.  Find the ratio of:

(i) length to its breadth

(ii) breadth to its perimeter.


5. The monthly salary of a person is $12,000 and his monthly expenditure id $8,500. Find the ratio between his:

(i) salary and expenditure.

(ii) expenditure and savings.

(iii) savings and salary.


6. There are 28 boys and 36 girls in a party. Find the ratio of:

(i) boys to girls

(ii) boys to total number of children

(iii) girls to total number of children
