Worksheet on Combination of Addition and Subtraction

Practice the questions given in the worksheet on combination of addition and subtraction. Here we will use the rules to solve the sums involving addition (+) and subtraction (-) together.

1. Solve the following:

(i) (16437 - 6898) + 4132

(ii) 28910 + 17825 -23349

(iii) (7814 + 1025) - 6099

(iv)  (54052 - 39970) - 13011

(v) 9238 - 6092 + 2357

(vi) 19389 + 21005 - 28357


2. Subtract 5381 from the sum of 3481 and 6920.

3. From 29500 subtract the difference of 4150 and 1405.

4. There are 60555 books in the library. 28276 books are issued and 12609 new books are added to the old stock. How many books are left in the library?

5. Mary has $ 4000. She bought a purse for $ 1020 and goggles for $ 2673. How much money is still left with Mary?

6. Terry purchased a box that can be hold 4085 comic books. Maria had 1560 books, Mike had 1025 and Davis had 3267. Will all the books fit in the box? How many books will be left?

7. In a village, there are 7099 men, 8297 women and the rest are children. If the total population of the village is 23692 then find the number of children.

8. Out of 6321 students in a school, 2430 come by school bus and 1029 by walk. How many come on bicycles?

9. Out of 9687 mangoes, 4028 mangoes were ripe and 2137 were green. Rest of the mangoes were rotten. Find the number of rotten mangoes.
