We will learn about the addition of 4-digit numbers (without carrying and with carrying).
We know how to add 2 or 3, 3-digit numbers without carrying or with carrying. Now we will apply the same method when we add two 4-digit numbers (without carrying and with carrying) and three 4-digit numbers (without carrying and with carrying). The numbers which are added are called addends and the result obtained is called sum. The rules for addition of 4-digit numbers with other numbers are the same as that for the numbers having less digits.
I. Addition of 4-Digit Numbers Without Carrying:
(i) Add 2431 and 5327
Step 1: Arrange the number in columns of thousands, hundreds tens and ones.
Step 2: Add ones.
Step 3: Then add tens.
Step 4: Then add hundreds.
Step 5: At last, add thousands.
